Sunny Sanskari Ki Tulsi Kumari Review:

Directed by: Shashank Khaitan
Production: Dharma Productions
Casting: Varun Dhawan, Janhvi Kapoor, Sanya Malhotra, Rohit Saraf

Story

The film begins with Sanya Malhotra and Varun Dhawan (Sunny). Sanya’s character is about to break up with Sunny and marry someone else (Rohit Saraf). Meanwhile, Rohit Saraf’s character leaves his ex-girlfriend (Janhvi Kapoor). This creates a new situation for the tangled love stories of the four characters.

Amid this complex relationship, Sunny and Tulsi (Janhvi Kapoor) hatch a plan to pretend to be a couple at a wedding to make their former lovers jealous. But as the story progresses, Sunny realizes that his feelings for Tulsi are becoming genuine. This forms the main conflict and highlight of the film.

Acting and Direction

Varun Dhawan and Janhvi Kapoor make a good pairing on screen, but their chemistry isn’t as effective as the one seen in Varun and Alia Bhatt’s Dulhania series. Sanya Malhotra and Rohit Saraf are comfortable and believable in their roles.

A special mention should be made of Abhinav Sharma, who plays Varun Dhawan’s friend. Even though his screen time is limited, his presence captivates the audience.

Director Shashank Khaitan has previously directed films like Humpty Sharma Ki Dulhania, Badrinath Ki Dulhania, and Dhadak. This time too, his direction emphasizes grand sets, colorful locations, and catchy musical numbers, but the emotional depth is slightly lacking.

Music and Technical Aspects

In keeping with Dharma Productions’ tradition, the film’s songs are shot on a grand scale. Some are catchy, while others fall short. The cinematography and production design are superb, but this “larger-than-life” world may seem a bit unrealistic for the average audience.

Weaknesses

A large part of the story is already revealed in the trailer, which reduces the element of surprise.

Varun and Janhvi’s on-screen pairing isn’t as effective. The pacing is slow in the beginning and middle sections, making the film feel overlong at times.

Impact of the Film

The final part of the film is relatively better and engages the audience with some interest. However, this romantic comedy doesn’t offer an “unforgettable experience.” It’s a light, one-time entertainer, especially for those who are fans of the romantic comedy genre.

Conclusion and Rating

Sunny Sanskari’s Tulsi Kumari is neither extremely funny nor overly emotional, but it offers viewers a simple and decent cinematic experience.
